A lot of countries, including Sweden, have laws that give patients the right to be assisted by an interpreter. In reality, a lot of communication will be handled without interpretation. Interpreters are usually not used or are inflexible for areas such as reception, triage, ER, ambulance services, post-op, daily care, and more. Still, there is a need for communication.
Care to Translate solves this problem with a digital medical translator to use as a complement to interpreters. It works as a phrase library with close to 3000 phrases in 44+ languages. Unlike machine translation apps, all medical phrases have been verified by native speakers and medical professionals. The benefits are better alliance with the patients, decreased stress, saved costs for examinations and tests, and ultimately a higher quality of care.
Care to Translate started as a student project at KI. In 2018, it developed into the company Care to Translate AB, with the support of KIIAB and Sting Accelerate.
