AI Pioneer Professor Geoffrey Hinton visited IVA

Last week, Professor Geoffrey Hinton visited Stockholm to receive the Nobel Prize in Physics for his groundbreaking discoveries and advancements in AI development. He also visited the Royal Swedish Academy of Engineering Sciences (IVA) for a panel discussion, and gave an exclusive interview to IVA's President. Watch both discussions here.

Last week, Professor Geoffrey Hinton visited Stockholm to receive the Nobel Prize in Physics for his groundbreaking discoveries and advancements in AI development. He also took the time to visit IVA, where he was interviewed by IVA's President, Professor Sylvia Schwaag Serger, about the socially transformative field of technology that he has helped pave the way for. Fifty years ago, he saw the possibility of building artificial neural networks that resemble the human brain, a development that most experts considered impossible at the time.

Also meet Professor Geoffrey Hinton in this panel discussion on AI development, humanity, and the future, alongside IVA Fellows Kia Höök, Professor of Interaction Design at KTH, Anders Sandberg, Researcher at the Institute for Futures Studies, formerly at the Future of Humanity Institute at the University of Oxford, and Staffan Truvé, CTO and co-founder of Recorded Future. Anette Novak, Chair of IVA’s Information Technology Division, moderates.

Professor Sylvia Schwaag Serger, President of IVA delivers the opening remarks.
