AI-Driven Glycan Analysis for Precision Health

Our research combines AI and glycobiology to revolutionize disease detection and treatment by identifying glycan (complex carbohydrate) biomarkers and developing targeted therapeutic proteins that recognize disease-specific glycans.

The project tackles the critical challenge of delayed disease diagnosis, which often leads to poor patient outcomes and limited treatment options. The goal is to enable earlier and more accurate disease detection while simultaneously providing precise, personalized treatment strategies through glycan-targeting proteins. So far, we have successfully validated these AI methods for identifying glycan biomarkers and designing therapeutic proteins in laboratory settings. However, to advance toward market-ready solutions, we need to strengthen our expertise in regulatory affairs and seek industry partnerships to implement our innovations in clinical applications.

IVA’s 100 List 2024: Innovation through Interdisciplinary Research

IVA’s 100 List 2024 highlights a diverse range of research projects from Swedish universities, under the theme Technology in the Service of Humanity - Innovation through Interdisciplinary Research. The projects have been selected based on their great potential to create value through commercialization, business and method development, or societal impact. All participating researchers are interested in increased contacts with the business sector for the application and further development of their projects.

Named contact persons for each research project on the 100 List are responsible for the accuracy of the information presented.
