Near-Quantum-Limited Broadband Microwave Amplifiers
In 2023, global public investment in quantum technology reached $42 billion, highlighting immense expectations for quantum computers to revolutionize industries. A critical barrier to building large-scale superconducting quantum computers is achieving near-noiseless qubit readout; without quantum-limited amplifiers, signals become too noisy, degrading performance.
The research addresses this challenge by developing quantum-limited, broadband microwave amplifiers that add no more noise than quantum physics requires. Uniquely, ours are the smallest in physical size, facilitating integration and scalability in quantum systems while delivering exceptional performance.
Our amplifiers have been successfully tested under laboratory conditions. With the objective to create a new technology-based commercial company, our next challenge is to produce and distribute amplifiers to research institutes and companies around the world to accelerate the development of practical quantum computers.
