Tele-Interactome for Vector Mosquito Control

We use semiochemicals (scents for mosquito communication) and a parasite-produced phagostimulant to control mosquitoes by disrupting their behavior.

With the EU aiming to reduce pesticide use by 50% by 2023, our non-toxic, species- specific, and cost-effective solutions provide an alternative to insecticides. This innovation addresses the urgent need to combat mosquito-borne diseases, protects pollinators, and benefits residents, healthcare systems, and businesses impacted by mosquito nuisances.  Current mosquito control fails to prevent the millions of annual illnesses and deaths caused by mosquito-borne diseases. The high disease burden strains healthcare systems, which lack the resources for adequate care and treatment.   Our approach uses semiochemicals (mosquito communication scents) and a parasite-derived phagostimulant to disrupt mosquito behavior. This method offers a cost-effective, environmentally friendly alternative to traditional mosquito control.
